Had a model 3 Long Range AWD from a friend for 2 weeks now.
Enjoyed most of it. If there’s any questions I’ll try and answer/give my opinion.

Can you enable ludicrous mode in reverse?

Don’t think that’s an actual question but I said anything so i’ll answer.
Gaps are ok IMO but things like chrome trims are not properly aligned and there’s bits in the interior that don’t fit

Does the steering wheel detach on this one too?

No but I think that’s a useful feature as I had some trouble getting in at first ...somehow seat and steering wheel are quite close together.

The controls for quite a bit of stuff is a giant tablet, right? How is that from an ergonomic day to day perspective? I have a hard time imagining living with it having a lot of analog controls I can use by touch..

I see. A follow up question then. How many donuts can you get out of a full charge?

Charge is not the problem but the “traction control” Tried quite hard to get some wheelspin (accelerating out of intersections etc..) ond managed only a little bit. There is a mode to allow a little bit of slip when setting of but I doubt it allows donuts. Might try on sunday.

I wonder how it would feel about having it's wheel speed sensors disconnected? Lol

I’m not a fan of not having the speed in front of me. I’ts no problem when you’re driving on a highway with cruise control or autopilot on. But I drive lots of backroads where the systems don’t work and I think it’s more difficult to notice I’m getting too fast than with a normal set up. Would really like a heads up display.
Otherwise its pretty much the same. I’m 26 so touchscreens are normal to me. And most of the day to day stuff is always there (radio, climate control..) so I dont think touching a screen
is much different to touching a button.

That I won’t try. Maybe it won’t set off at all without some software hoax from a Tesla technician after that.
But I think it just knows not to give you much torque from a standstill
with the wheel turned and doesn’t even try to go as
close to the max as possible.

I wouldn't suggest trying either, was just a curiosity.

How bad is access to the trunk? The opening looks so tiny in pictures that it’s hard to see how it would be practical in the real world.

I don’t think it’s that small, but I’m not used to sedans so I can’t really compare. But the it’s designed I’m prettys sure any snows that’s ond the rear window would slide right inside.

She’s a doctor. She had a 2000'
Mercedes E320 estate
they bought second hand like 15 years ago before the 3
. So plenty time to safe some money.

I'm hoping my next car will be e electric. (My first choice would be a used Chevy Bolt, as it seems to be the best bang for buck). It's so hard to justify to myself spending that amount of money on a vehicle though. If money were no object, Mrs. BaconSandwich would be hauling the kids around in a Model X.

Yeah I d on’ t think Teslas are good cars or good as “green” vehicles.
To save money or save the planet it’s not the right way. They use way too much energy and depending where you live gas can be better than electri city
They do have a purpose and have made electric vehicles “s3xy” so it’s all right in my mind. But it is hard justify the price as i think they could be way greener and aren't great as cars..

My thing is that I want something electric, ideally one for me and one for Mrs. BaconSandwich. Whatever she drives needs to have room for 3 car seats, which limits things quite a bit. Model X, Chrysler Pacifica Plug In... and that’s about it. I don’t think there’s any other plug-in vehicle with three rows of seats.
Around here, electricity is dirt cheap. Like $0.08 kW/h (in Canadian $). I have a general beef with being bent over every time the price of gas goes up, and I can make my own electricity a whole lot easier than I can make my own gasoline. We need to start doing things differently, like reducing our dependence on fossil fuels. We may as well invest in the R&D now, instead of waiting until things hit panic levels of “oh poop, we should have thought about this sooner”. Unfortunately, that hasn’t filtered down to more affordable vehicles for the average person - yet. Maybe in another 5 years. But even then, I’m not the kind of person to buy a brand new vehicle. At least not until my house is entirely paid off, and I’ve got plenty saved away for the kids’ education.

Yeah buying new is financial non sense.
“ Unfortunately, that hasn’t filtered down to more affordable vehicles for the average person - yet.” And accelerating this process is exactly where I see the positive in Tesla and Musk. Everything else is debatable.
I’m guessing you won’t need 3 seats in 5 years time, so you won’t need 3 rows anymore. Then there’s quite a few affordable options, for plug ins at least.
